The J/24 Europeans 2014 hosted by ässs club Angleholm Sweden and organized by the For Fun (pink) boat SWE 5437, the British attended, with Il riccio GBR 5219 RCYC having to retire on day 2 but still finished 27th with a total of 35 boats. Flying Colours GBR 4266 Parkstone Yacht Club came in at 23rd Jolly Roger GBR 4270 also of Parkstone at 17th, Simon Philbrick from Poole Yacht Club sailed with team Paget MON 5452 in 16th and we were all delighted to see Carole Coveney Jiggy GBR 4268 form Poole Yacht Club be part of the winning European Champions aboard USA 5443 by a clear 30 points with Mike Ingham! Thanks also go to out ex class secretary and chief measurer Stuart Jardine and Mary Ann Jardine From Lymington. And to the 22 German teams, 1 Italian, 1 Danish and 6 Swedish entries. The event was held in south Sweden in between Malmo and Gothenburg running breeze from 10-25knots average and gust of up to 35 on day 2. There was 2 days of measurement/arrivals and launching following a training race and then an 11 race series with 1 discard. Many black/u flag starts were the norm with this competitive fleet and racing was on Tuesday to Friday 12-15 august 2014.
